Print
This is a poster of the film and it comes from the
print side of the three advertisement features.
The title is in a huge font. The reason why it is in a huge font is
because they want to catch the audiences eyes while they are walking past or if
anyone drives past then they could see it as well because it’s at the top of a
gate and its everything has a huge font. In the top right hand corner they have
put the tittle of the album ill Manors. This is also the tittle of the film, so
it’s promoting two things at once. The reason why the font is very bold and
thick is because they do not want the audience to forget what the film was called.
So whoever looks at the poster once, would never forget the title. The colour of the font is white so it stands out
and contrasts with the background.
The next thing that is very catchy is the release
date, which is also in a big font. The colour of the font is red, it catches
the audience eyes. The reason why they have the release date in such a big font
because it’s a important feature. That’s the feature that tells or informs the
audience when the film would come out.
The producer of the poster has thought a lot about where to put the
release date, which is one of the biggest key questions. The reason why he has put the release date
right at the bottom is because once the audience have seen everything on top
they would scroll to the bottom and that’s the last thing the producer wants
the audience to remember. The release date, the reason why he wants them to see
that last is because the only thing they would remember is the last thing they
saw and the producer makes the release date the last thing for them.
Finally, the last two things which would be
important is the tagline and the central image. The tagline is the line under
the title and the central image is placed right in the central. It’s a picture
of Ben Drew himself with a cigarette in his mouth. He’s been given a very serious look; this is
done because they want to express all his pain and feelings which he has kept
inside him.
Broadcast
To start off with all the titles, sky lines,
taglines that appear are in bold. The reason why the title is in a thick font
is because the producer doesn’t want the audience to forget the title of the
film. he wants them to remember it in the film go, that’s why he has put it in
a thick font so it isn’t easy to forget. The reason why the other lines which
appear in the trailer are also thick is because the producer wants to catch the
audience eyes with them. He wants them to read every single line because every
line has its own meaning to it. The
producer wants the audience to fit themselves in the trailer so they later when
the film comes out they would want to go and watch it. The other thing which is
really effective is that the producer has shown the title of the film right at
the end, this is done because that’s the last thing he wants the audience to
remember. The reason why putting the title till the last is very effective
because the last thing the audience see that’s what they will remember, which
is a positive point because when the film comes out they would remember what it
was called. The other thing that the producer leaves till the end is the
release date, this is done because of the same reason, and he wants the
audience to see that last. The reviewers quote is a very important factor in
promoting the film, it helps promote the film. it tells the audience whether
the film is worth watching or not. It says that the film is worth watching and
this is made evident through 'Simone Baired’ , as he stated “A film for our
times” . This could suggest that this film would be suitable for the youths
(teenagers)
Non diegetic sound is
used throughout the entire trailer of a voice over of Plan B. The voice over of
Plan B highlights he is the narrative of the film. The fact that he raps his
music anchors the image as it makes it clear for the audience; therefore it is
a preferred reading. The editing is done very thoughtfully, the producer has
used face shots to represent that it is a multi strand narrative which means
that it has more than one narrative in the film. Fast editing is used in the
trailer which creates that enigma in the audience minds, they keep showing the
interesting bits then when it comes to the end of the interesting bit they cut
the scene which makes the audience who have seen the trailer go watch it.
The music used throughout the
trailer is all urban music, which connotes that its for the youth because they
are the ones who normally listen to all this rap/ urban music. The sound track
that is played in the trailer is also played in the film which means that this
would engage the audience. This is known as ‘synergy’ which means promoting
something through something else. In this case Plan B has promoted his film
through his music, same as he promoted all his music through his concerts and
shows he done.
E-media
The first thing that
is very effective is the colour white, they have used white for most of the
writing which attracts the audiences eyes and makes them want to read
everything and find out information. The other thing which is really eye catchy
is the sky line at the top saying ON BLU-RAY, DVD, DOWNLOAD AND ON DEMAND NOW
this is in a really big font, which catches the audience eyes, it offers them
many ways to watch it. It tells them that its on DVD, its on the internet and
the final thing is that its on demand. It makes the audience feel that how can
you not have seen the film yet. It makes them feel left out. It also persuades
them to watch it, which means the sales would rise just because of that one
line.
All the tabs on the
side are there for the followers or the audience to explore the film, or find
out the plot before buying the film or watching the film. the website gives out
a huge amount of information on the films background and on the directors
background. There is a special and separate tab for the director himself, this
is very important because loads of fans or the audience would want to find out
information on the director or would like to hear from him then they could do
that by clicking on his tab. Synargy is also used again in the website because
Plan Bs music album is being cross promoted in the website. All the institution
company logos are at the bottom of the website this tells the audience who
helped in making thye film.
